The 13-hour workday is not a choice – it ‘s a blackmail
The New Democracy government is trying to present the new attack on labour
rights by introducing the 13-hour workday as a “choice” for workers.
Contrary to the governmental narrative, no worker chooses to destroy their
life. The government admits that if you work 8 hours, you definitely are on dire
straits way before the end of the month, unable to pay the household bills.
The government is doing nothing against profits that fuel inflation. In Greece,
electricity inflation is 9 times higher than the European average. In rents, it is
3 times higher than the average.
At the same time, workers in Greece work the longest hours in all of Europe.

The 13-hour workday is stealing our lives !
The answer is not to increase working hours and dismantle labor rights.
The answer is to fully cover workers with collective agreements, that will
increase wages and improve working conditions.
The answer is to reduce working hours and increase wages heading to a
minimum wage of 1,000 euros.
The New Left calls on the working people and youth to fully participate in the
nationwide organized strike, on October 1. The only answer to the policy that
is destroying our lives is collectivity and struggle to overturn this policy.
