New Left gives its full support to today’s March to Gaza protest, which will take place at 14:00 outside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, condemning the criminal attack with drones, chemicals and explosive devices that the Global Sumud Flotilla had been under, while sailing in the Greek Search and
Rescue area, by the state of Israel.
The New Democracy government, instead of remaining silent, must immediately:
- Guarantee the safety of the boats and crews of the Flotilla.
- Condemn the attacks that flagrantly violate International Humanitarian Law.
- Support the legitimate request for the opening of a humanitarian corridor to
Gaza.
While other European governments, such as Italy and Spain, are taking measures to protect their citizens, the Greek government is silent, complicit in a policy that allows the murderous state of Israel to operate as a pirate state in the Mediterranean.
We do have to remind Mr. Mitsotakis that the safety of navigation and the protection of crews in Greek waters is not an option but an obligation of the Greek government.
New Left stands by international humanitarian aid missions and will not allow any form of solidarity to be criminalized under any circumstances.
