On Wednesday, December 10, Parliamentary spokesman of the New Left, Nasos Iliopoulos, and Secretary, Gabriel Sakellaridis, together with a local delegation of New Left members took part in the mobilization of farmers at the port of Volos, expressing the party’s solidarity with the struggle of the producers.
During their presence at the mobilization, the executives of the New Left have discussed with farmers and livestock breeders, listened to the anguish of the workers in the agriculture sector, trying to save their crops and livestock in Thessaly, after a year of enormous production costs, delays in subsidies and losses in livestock.
Although the government is fully responsible for this atrocious situation in the primary sector, is blaming the farmers themselves, criminalizing their protests.
The New Left supports the farmers’ struggle against the government’s policies that lead to the disappearance of the agricultural production, the concentration of farming land in a few hands, the shrinking of the income of small and medium-sized producers.
